Sounds like you should be directing your question to the neo conservatives of the Conservative Party. There's a difference between conservatives and Conservatives.

There were Republicans that were progressives and fought against the excesses of big business and fought for social justice and there were Democrats (otherwise called Dixiecrats) that did the exact opposite.

You have got to be kidding. It was not liberals who took a balanced budget and a huge surplus and turned it into a huge deficit and the budget so out of balance that it is almost beyond repair. It was neo cons who want THEIR tax cut now even when they knew it meant that future generations would have to pay for their wars and their de-regulated banks run amok.
It was neither liberals nor true conservatives that were willing to "pass their debt to the children." It was the neo cons and anyone who doesn't recognize that is going to help make history repeat itself.
and its not the conservatives that are giving is 1 trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see. largest deficit while bush was resident was 530 billion which was also too large and was put on our kids credit card.
