I don't get what the big f'ing deal is. She was 6 years old for crying out loud. At 6, I'm really sure she was politically savvy enough to say "Dad, we can't take little Chuck to Canada to get treatment for his burns because this will come back and bite me on the a$$ later when I'm an adult." <rolls eyes>
A child does NOT have a say as to where the child's parent takes them for medical treatment.
If they lived in some backwoods town out in the wilderness, the medical care there probably was some old veterinarian that also doubled as a medical doctor for humans.
There are some cities located in unincorporated areas (even in this day and age) that do not have a doctor located in the town.
I ran across some medical statistics a while back that listed several states with cities that did not have doctors in that city.
If my kid were burned and had an infection, damn well bet I'd be taking them somewhere to get medical attention no matter where in the hell it was -- even if it meant going into another country.
You don't play around with your child's health, period.
