The Associated Press: Idaho first to sign law against health care reform

Idaho first to sign law against health care reform

Quote:
BOISE, Idaho — Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter on Wednesday became the first state chief executive to sign a measure requiring his attorney general to sue Congress if it passes health reforms that force residents to buy insurance. Similar legislation is pending in 37 other states nationwide.
Virginia Politics Blog - Cuccinelli's office confirms Virginia will sue over health care

Quote:
A spokesman for Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) said this afternoon that Virginia will file suit against the federal government if the Democratic health care reform bill is approved by the U.S. Congress.

Virginia last week became the first state in the country to pass a state bill declaring it illegal for the government to require individuals to purchase health insurance, a key part of bills under consideration on Capitol Hill.
This should be fun it obamacare passes - hopefully there will be an injunction on the legislation and tied up in the courts for a while.

I don't think I've ever witnessed the public and individual states so opposed to legislation proposed by the WH and Congress. This is truly unprecedented.

Quote:
(CNSNews.com) – Landmark Legal Foundation President Mark Levin, who served as chief of staff in the Reagan Justice Department, said he plans to file an immediate lawsuit if House Democratic leaders try to use an unconstitutional manuever to pass the Senate health care bill without actually having to vote on it.
I think it would be just grand if the states and individuals said "up yours" to the federal government and refused to comply with their unconstitutional laws.

See..and you guys bash Texas for wanting out so much. Lately quite a few states are doing their own thing about opting out of this or that.

When individual states start claiming their rights publically and object to Federal strong arm tactics then people should sit up and pay attention.

When was the last time you read about individual states putting forward bills to object to Federal bills ?

I'm all for it. The more messed up we can get the federal conglomerate the less work it can get done. I'd be satisfied to shut it down for a few months.

Yes, because free market health insurance has done such a wonderful job for the citizens of the U.S.

Elections have consequences. Obama won, and Democrats control Congress. If voters don't like the decisions being made, they are free to vote for the do-nothing Republicans in November.

The unfunded mandate for increased Medicaid enrollment this bill mandates will be fiscally devastating for a majority of the states.
