Republicans will stop banging the “repeal” drums if they know what’s good for them, Jay Newton-Small writes in Time, listing the reasons it’s risky for conservatives to keep health care front-and-center.

1. No one’s actually going to kill grandma. What happens when the doomsday scenarios they've been spreading don’t materialize? Most of the bill won’t even be online until 2014—quite the anticlimax.

You believe what the Leftists tell you.

It is the American People who do not want the bill. They are telling you its just the Republicans.

It's not about partisan. It is about the will of the people.

Actually Bush's former speech writer is saying the same thing.

Watching the GOP stick to this issue is like watching them run Palin after Bush. It makes no sense and is a sure way for them to lose.

I've been saying the same thing since before the election: Keep following the Becks of the world, and your party will go right off a cliff. Bring substance, intelligence, led by moderates and you can swing the Indies over and start winning again. You're a long, long way from that though.

One thing I think they will do is take up immigration reform before the next election.

Sensible, moderate stuff.

...the Tea party/right wing hardcore will go on the warpath again...and wind up alienating every minority in the Country,

meanwhile they'll have motivated hispanics across the Nation to get out and vote to push this reform through in the 2nd Term.

/agree

There has hardly been a moderate conservative in any office since Roe v. Wade.

Sigh. More misinformation. Does anyone ever think about posting a link to verify their opinions?

The Repub's can cry about the bill till the cows come home.
It's been signed. It is the law. It is fact. It is a blessing.

it isnt law yet, has to pass constitutional muster in the scotus as well, because there shall be challanges in court.

as far as being a blessing? more like a curse, maybe you like less freedom, but I prefer liberty over a little safety.

Hopefully some independents or 3rd parties will join congress and it won't matter what the Dems/Repubs think, true reform will just get done. I want to see decades of repub/dem laws washed from the books, not just this train wreck of a bill, and start with a clean slate.

Wonder how many of our tax dollars will be spent in that futile attempt?

From the OP:

The court challenges will fail. Medicaid and Medicare have been challenged a zillion times, and they're still operating in all 50 states.
