The planned Sun Day is to "celebrate an exceptionally nice day of the spring season, to promote positive school culture and just for fun," Principal Bob Sampson said in his note.
"Typically we cancel school for bad weather, so why not have some fun and cancel school due to fabulous weather?" Sampson said.
Seems reasonable, as he said they had taken no snow days and I assume their curriculum was designed around the fact that there is often snow days, so I guess it works out well.

I went to a private school for one year of my high school career.
They closed for a week in late May because of heat.
Private schools do not have to meet minimum state requirements for number of school days.
