As promised. Even though some say it's not enough.

I will give him credit for keeping his promise. Now let's see how well this all holds up.

Glad he kept that promise.

From what I read though, an EO cannot change law. So how do you think this will hold up ?

EXECUTIVE ORDER CAN’T OVERRIDE ABORTION PROBLEMS IN SENATE HEALTH CARE BILL (http://lungren.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=608&Item id=86 - broken link)

The Supreme Court has struck down EO's before..Bush, Clinton and Truman as noted in the above article.

It won't hold up. EO cannot trump federal law. It was just a sugar-coated way to get Bart Stupak to sign onto the bill so he can tell his constituents that it wasn't his fault if federal money helps pay for abortion.

And those in Congress as well as the President knew that it might not hold up if challenged

That EO provides that a function of the Executive Office cannot fund abortion. So, no abortions in the White House. Sort of explains that Dem party Donkey thingy. No wonder they continually plead victimization.

Obama said no federal dollars will fund abortions during Health Care speech to Congress. Why does he need an EO?

Because the wording of the bill allows it. The signed paper trumps verbal words.
And the Dems voted to not amend the bill. And it's not in the reconciliation bill either.

I loved the press meeting. No one is allowed inside to watch this "historic event". So much for transparency. But don't worry...the press is going to get a picture of him signing it.

Obama is terrified of the questions that reporters might ask. And he should be.

And before you liberals go all nutso and start rambling "but, but, but, FoxNews....", you should know that it was a CBS reporter pushing for access. And calling the White House out on its lack of the promised "transparency".
