Well - they aren't exactly kidding when they said everyone would be covered by insurance. That means some will have to pay money toward their new insurance whether they wanted it or not, employers will be forced to provide insurance to those the government mandates they will provide it to -- OR ELSE.

I think we all know how the goverment will end up forcing it's plan. It can threaten fines -- but if people don't pay them then it will go much further, including the confiscation of their wages, their property and even prison time.

Its worse than that.. Who in their right mind would buy insurance which might cost $2-3K a year, when they can just choose to pay a $500 fine, and then have the government pickup the tab?

The comment "power giddy little girls" completely illustrates the distain felt by the Right for anyone that attempts to improve living conditions for all. It actually shows the right's immaturity.

I agree that this bill was not optimal. A proper law would have eliminated private sector health insurance and medical industries by specific regulation and replaced them with government sponsored Universal Health Care.

I don't see that happening. For example, they report nary a word about liberal nutcase disobedience and lawlessness, but let some nut on the right step out of line and it's plastered all over in screaming headlines.

As for Dingell, I don't think he meant what we heard. If you listen carefully just before that you can hear him saying that 300 will be covered. Clearly he meant 300 million. He's an old man who was, as has been stated, most likely tired. Let's be fair and cut him some slack here.

While the goal in all they do is eventual control of all aspects of our lives, I don't think it's that clear in most Dems' minds except those higher up (WH). It's just something that happens as a result of all their "good deeds for the people" and "for the children." They are keenly aware, though, that the more they do for the low income, the more their base will increase. I think that is their focus. Obama and his czars, however, see a bigger picture and are relentlessly, patiently, step by step, working toward that.

"Improving conditions for us all"?

Greg, we cannot afford this. This will only accelerate the demise of all three entitlements- medicare, social security, and now Obamacare.

NO ONE will benefit from this in the end. When this bankrupts the nation, there will be financial chaos and potentially social unrest. No one benefits from that. People need to stop counting all the nice treats they have been awarded now and look at the terrible cost to the nation.

I fear that this is the final straw that will result in insolvency and ultimately the break up of the Union. How is that a good thing?

The CBO numbers were cooked from presumptions and gimmicks provided to them that cannot possibly be true. Again- true cost-

$1.2 trillion over ten years.

Within 20 years, all of our tax revenues will be paid to service the debt, with no more room for treats of any form, let alone roads, schools, or a military. Now who benefits from that?

Yep, they're called investigative reporters.

Charles Krauthammer figures the cost estimates of this bill to be in the $2-2.5 trillion range over ten years. Whatever the true cost, it's far more than the CBO numbers suggest. And yes, the crushing debt from all this excessive entitlement will be the ultimate demise of the US. Heck, China doesn't need to destroy us, we're doing a fine job of that ourselves.

When these legislators work into the night, fatigue sets in. The fatigue is basically the equivalent of being intoxicated with regards to physical and mental reflexes (as any simulated driving experiment proves). Kind of like getting a girl smashed at a bar just so they'll loosen up, feel more comfortable with you and tell you all about their sexual escapades. Ask me how I know.
