Playground Jail in Bed-Stuy Has Parents Fuming | NBC New York

I do not believe any message was being sent here. It was just a playground for children.

Just because their playground has a pretend "jail" does not mean that is where they will end up.

Didn't we all play cops and robbers?

McDonalds had a jail on their playground when I was a kid, too. Two in fact. A jail in Grimmace's belly, and a jail in Officer Big Mac's mouth.

Yeah we all played cops and robbers and my kids play pretend "jail" with their friends on the playground right now too, but whoever chose to manufacture the "jail" panel for the playground must really be a foot-in-the-mouth kind of person at social functions.
Lever the kids to "pretend" jail, not a make a blatant one with the actual word and locks on it. That's just tacky creepy and weird.
Plus the racial issues in the history of Bed-Stuy could also possibly a part of it. And I do find it interesting that there aren't any other jail playgrounds in the area either.
I doubt there are many across the country.

How many playgrounds have you seen out there in, say, Mineola that have a "jail" panel like that?

Ever seen one other than in the picture on the link?

Keep an eye on these kids. I see trouble in their future.

So you are saying the city parks worker who put that up had an agenda?
