The two political parties that dominate the United States government at all levels are both anti-American. They do not represent the American people nor seek what is best to preserve democracy. Democrats are Communists and Republicans are Nazis.

So, how do we change this. What can be done to make the United States a more democratic country, where the voices of all are not only heard but direct the country? Or are we at the point in time when government cannot be democratic?

I can understand your post,. I'm guilty of being a ***** on many levels.
Purhaps we as a people feel the need to seperate ourselves from those whose opinions differ so we can vilify who we deem the enemy. IMO, if we did drop the DEM/REP party system from our government we would find a new way to seperate those whose opinions are different. Look at the political world now, we now have Liberal/conservative seperation from the already seperate political parties.(There are liberal republicans and conservative democrates) The need to fine tune our group is only natrual, dare I say it but its just like wild animals, mainly predators.
How do we fix it? IMO, I feel there is no real fix. We can not legislate humane nature. but you might find this link of interest;
Can Morality Be Legislated?

I agree with most of the authors views but not all.
Good luck and good question too!

what we need to be able to do is recall a politician if they are performing poorly or dangerously. we don't have that option as citizens now. if they knew that they might be held immediately accountable for their actions, they might actually listen to their constituents.

Well, we do still have elections. Feel free not to vote for members of the two major parties. There is no law compelling you (or anyone else) to do so.

Good luck with that. Do you really believe a group of lawmakers is going to pass a law that might cost them their cushy little jobs?

I think Carole King said it best: It's too late baby now, it's too late.............................................. ...

The people are at fault. They empower the parties and the corruption. They do so because they serve calls of self interest. Look through the threads about taxing soda, fast food, smoking bans, free health care, etc...

The people are the ones doing this to themselves. They will be the ones that enslave themselves and they will be of complete blame. For people can not be taken advantage of unless they allow it. The people are at fault and fully deserving of the bonds they place themselves in. Sad and ignorant as it may be.

The two party system has worked well for several centuries. It's only been in the last 20 years that they have forgotten how to put their partisan mode behind them and work together in between elections.

As for recalling them if you don't like what they are doing....what about the fact that others do like what they are doing? No one can please all the people all the time. We have elections every four years. That's often enough to change leadership. Anything else would be too disruptive, not to mention expensive, and who would even want to run---uproot theirs lives---if they didn't know if they would be serving a full term?

Society itself has gotten more corrupt, nasty and "me first" in the past 20 years and our politicians only reflect what is happening everywhere. It's time for a civility movement. We talk about anti-bullying in our schools but we don't demand that same of our adults.

Their job is not to "please" the people, it is to uphold the Constitution. This can not be done if we run around trying to "please" the people. The anger and conflict that exists now is because they are trying to "please" a certain portion of the people with disregard to their oaths of office. They have disregarded the very purpose to which our country stands and in doing so, they have disregarded the people themselves.

How can we blame them though? We elected those who would disregard it for our own selfish benefit. People will suffer from this in the long run. People will eventually wake up, but it will not be until they have tossed away every protection that once stood in their lust to have their will inflicted on those around them.

I've heard Obama called a Nazi too. That term is thrown around far too much.

If we eliminated organized religion and political parties (which are basically the same thing) there would be far less division and far more agreement in congress. People would actually support their beliefs instead of always feeling like they have to "do as the party does".
