Default AP: Say, guess what we just found in ObamaCare!

Hot Air Blog Archive AP: Say, guess what we just found in ObamaCare!

The health care overhaul will cost U.S. companies billions and make them more likely to drop prescription drug coverage for retirees because of a change in how the government subsidizes those benefits.

And with the $500 billion Medicare cut, seniors are just SOL.

The AP screwed us, just as the rest of the media screwed us. They shouldn't have JUST NOW found any damn thing. They should have read the bill and found it a year ago, a month ago, or even a week ago and reported on it as a journalistic imperative. That's their job. Instead, the Leftist Lap Dog Media f*cked American's again by coddling the balls of Democrats' at every turn in order to shield the truth.

As if some sort of hindsight oopsie will placate us. Unbelievable.

All these threads on the tax hits need to be combined.

Because the problem is that these companies have been receiving money directly from the government for the prescription plans to pay for the prescription plans, and have simultaneously been deducting the costs from their taxes. In effect, double-dipping.

Immediate Impact of obamacare Law: Caterpillar & John Deere - $250 MILLION hit

Now, all you conservatives who were all about finding ways to trim health care costs, why does sealing up a tax loophole bother you?

I'm sure they knew. But the WH PR machine was not about to disclose that BEFORE the vote.
Neither were our elected officials.

They had the people all in a tizzy over "death panels" instead.
Deflection. It works well and Americans continue to fall for it.

You realize that, in the end, the retirees will end up paying.
It was a tax credit for subsidizing prescription drugs.

Now if they closed the loophole why didn't they do something to insure the cost of prescription drugs won't skyrocket ?

Because..it's all about revenue now..all about revenue.
The government needs money and is closing up loopholes they otherwise would have left alone.

You know what - let's not blame the media for what we need to be doing ourselves.

It's time to stop blaming others and look at ourselves.

Stop it, you're confusing them.

Yes, I concur that American's should have read the bill as well. But journalists have a responsibility, too. The Keith Olbermann's and Sean Hannity's of the world should not be construed as the legitimate media apparatus in America, because they are not. The true spirit of journalism is to take government to task and to report the news as it is, not as they want us to view it.

Hindsight 20/20 ooopsies just don't cut it. Journalists have failed us again.
