Obama made a surprise trip to Afghanistan today.

Obama Makes a Surprise Visit to Afghanistan - NYTimes.com

Quote:
WASHINGTON President Obama made a surprise trip to Afghanistan on Sunday, his first visit as commander in chief to the site of the war he inherited and has stamped as his own.
Quote:
Mr. Obama will also meet with some of the tens of thousands of American troops who have been sent to Afghanistan since he took office. His visit with the troops is particularly significant because it comes at the same time that military officials report that the number of American troops killed in Afghanistan has roughly doubled in the first three months of 2010, compared to the same period last year.

So was he there to announce that they will all be home for Christmas? I did not think so. Will he be apoligizing to the families who lost loved ones there? I doubt it.

Was 9/11 Obama's fault?

Why should he apologize?

If Bush had done his job as President, and focused on Afghanistan until the job was completed, Obama wouldn't be making trips there today.

The truth is mean?

Where were you during the Bush years? This is a debacle that he could have been fixed and he did not. Ask the Soviets about Afghanistan and whether it is a war worth fighting. He will waste thousands of US lives and it will be for nothing. Only a fool would think this will accomplish anything but wasting US lives. Is Afghanistan going to be a thriving Democracy with an army able to secure it's borders, fight off foreign backed terrorist, become a thriving economy besides drug exports. If we stay we stay forever If/when we leave with our tails between our legs how do we justify our loss of lives?

That is the problem where too many people won't face the facts, Afghanistan is futile, Iraq was tough but worth fighting and was won. They have an potential viable economy that will support a military that can be successful in establishing a Democracy that will influence their surrounding countries. Afghanistan does not and never will. End of story. A complete waste of lives and Obama owns it from now until the last dead soldier is shipped back home in a coffin.

Reality sucks but it is still reality!

You have GOT to be kidding?

The U.S. gets attacked by terrorists who are based in Afghanistan, and we are supposed to ignore that country because "Russians were unsuccessful"?

Maybe you've forgotten WHO we are fighting over there?

It's not the entire country of Afghanistan .... it's Al Qaeda !!! it's the Taliban !!!
