F ing California again. Why stop there? Why not celebrate right on the WTC site on that day? Celebrating the independence of Mexico is so much more important to city leaders than FREAKING COMMON SENSE AND DECENCY!

America is the land of the free. Nothing more patriotic than to respect individual freedoms.

Wait till after Amnesty(If Obama passes it).I can understand an ethnic celebration but they really should reconsider the date. And in Los Angeles California they cancelled St. Patrick's day because of budget problems , but they had plenty of cash for Michael Jackson's Funeral Celebrations,Go Figure?

Hey Einstein, just because you have the freedom to do something doesn't mean you should automatically do it. Read the above article and you'll find that most Mexican Consulates begin their celebration several days AFTER September 11. This city CHOOSE to schedule the Mexican Independence Day starting on September 11 knowing full well, as stated in the article, that it could create problems in the community.

Does that mean a group can suppress your freedom and force you to not using it?

So, even freedom is a lip service, eh?

I thought September 11 was like Christmas for conservatives. Didn't Beck say he was sick and tired of the families of the 911 victims.

Anyways, why are they having it on September 11, Mexico's Bicentennial is on September 16.

Sure, let them do as they please.

And we can do as we please. We should be able to get ICE agents to man the entry gates to the festival and proof of citizenship and proper documentation will need to be provided from every person planning to attend. There will be an active presence of law enforcement on the scene, because there will be rioting for sure.

We'll see just how big the festival turns out to be if those were the conditions of entry.

But that's only in a perfect world. In the real world, they will get their way and in the process of their celebration, belittle the most tragic day in the history of our great country. Quite fitting indeed.

People celebrate all sorts of things on Sept 11. And Dec 7. And pretty much every day for that matter. Life doesn't come to a standstill no matter how much tragedy people suffer. That is just how it is.

It's not stopping others from mourning or doing whatever they feel is appropriate on that day so why the hell should anyone care?

Oh, but it's okay for the teabaggers to hold rallies on the anniversary of the OKC bombing.
