To put it succinctly, we probably have the largest population of the self-defeaters, as a percentage, in this country.

We have a large segment that will immediately embrace any lie told them, while vehemently attacking any truth spoken

They believe that up is actually down, and that left is actually right.

They love the idea of total government tyranny and control.

Eager to lick the boots of authority for a bowl of government gruel.

Spineless, emasculated boys who are afraid of their own shadows, and would soil themselves if confronted by men.

Mental illness on a national scale.

You are right, Fla electoral vote was the critical number. But, most later studies did show that GW would have won. My problem with that election, was the 5 US Supreme Court Justices deciding the Constitution was a meaningless document. They should not have overruled Fla SC decision to get the count correct.

The illness is at full display, and more so since the day Obama won the election much less the day he took the office. I call that illness: sourgrapeitis.

I would expect nothing more profound or mature.

I've heard the word Socialism being used a lot but my understanding is (I could be wrong) that the US already has social policies i.e Medicare, social security, and public schools. Is it because there is a direct increase in taxes on the middle class to provide health care?
You are so right.
You would think that the Govt was trying to do something against the American People instead of trying to make sure that EVERY American gets good affordable healthcare.
Hypocrite seems to be the word of the moment in America. "Socialism" in America is ok for huge corporations who get millions of tax payers dollars in bail outs but a "sin" if used for everyday hard working Americans.
The majority of the middle class are NOT the people objecting to Healthcare reform. Unfortunately fear mongering and outright lies are scaring everyday Americans against what they should have.......... Healthcare for ALL in America.

OP here:
My observation is this; I think that a lot of people who are against the health care plan don't fully understand what they are objecting to. I'll give you a couple of examples. After 1am we can get coverage of American news stations because we're 5 hours ahead. Fox news is one and CNN or CBS is the other I'm not sure. CNN or CBS were showing a protest in Arizona and there was protestor holding up a placard that read "take your government hands off my Medicare", but isn't Medicare already a government scheme? So that protestor didn’t understand what he was protesting about! How can you get so worked up over something to go out and protest about it if you don't understand what it is? What was ironic about the protest was that most of the people who attended appeared to be working class people, who are exactly the type of people who would benefit from health care!

Also, I hear the word socialism being used a lot. A few weeks ago, they showed Glen Beck interviewing a member of the US communist party. Beck went on to compare socialism with the Nazi party in German aka The Nationalist Socialist Party. He started to literally shout about how the word Socialist was included in the name of the Nazi party. What he didn’t realize that the word Nationalist is also in the name, as we know a Nationalist is the polar opposite to a Socialist! The Nazi’s were a right wing party!

Every Government has social policies, some are to the right and some to the left. For example, In Ireland a lot of EU countries are annoyed that we have such a low Corporate Tax rate of 12.5% (this was even a topic in the US presidential election). Low taxation is a policy of the right, however we would be considered by a lot of Americans as being socialists because of out health care and social welfare benefits. Fact is, politics is won and lost in the centre.

I’ll finish on this, about 7 years ago I lived in a town in NJ called Little Silver. The local township was like George Orwell’s 1984. We had to keep the grass cut to a certain height, we couldn’t put up a fence, you can’t park your car on the lawn, you couldn’t buy alcohol after 9pm and there were no bars allowed in the town. We even had an inspector come around a view the inside of the house to make sure no extra rooms were added, but nobody complained. So that’s why I cant understand why people are so upset over health care, the fact is that whether you realize it or not Governments control almost everything via laws, taxes or regulations.
