OCOEE, Fla. -- An 11-year-old Ocoee boy was arrested for playing with a toy gun. Police said the arrest was necessary, because it was a safety issue.
The boy was using a rubber band gun and his father said the kid did nothing wrong, but police said they take it as a serious threat and the 11-year-old is facing felony charges.
The crime isn't very common, but Ocoee police said it is serious. It centers on an 11-year0old boy and his toy short-barreled shotgun.

You are right this country has gone completely mad but because there are small kids using real guns now, some have been shot by the police when a toy gun was mistaken for a real gun.

Well then wasn't it the police officer who misused a gun, not a kid? :P
No. When you have kids shooting at cops and an officer believes he is about to be shot, self preservation comes natural. It is a sad and devastating event for all concerned including the officer that must live with that event the rest of his life. Toy guns should be only made in bright neon colors or something to distinguish them from real guns.
People thinking a real gun pointed at them is very serious
I understand the police being called, and I understand the police responding (and trying to scare the S**T out of the kid). Some parents are dumb enough to give their kids a firearm.
The actual arrest is where they went too far (probably a rookie in training who will get failed as a result of this dumb arrest). In most states an 11 y/o is considered too young to know they are commiting a crime.
