I think the Founding Fathers would go ape**** with how things are today. I am a big believer church and state need to be as far apart as possible but that isn't going to happen anytime soon. When did this really become a thing of the past?

They aren't really, never really have been in the US.

You just have large quantities of vocal people who think whatever they believe is right because they like their god better.

It started in 1979 when Evangelical Christians under Jerry Falwell started lobbying lawmakers under the newly formed "Moral Majority." Without them organizing the churches to donate and vote for Ronald Reagan he might not have gotten elected. When the Moral Majority was disbanded, elements of the group transferred to the Christian Coalition under Pat Robertson. The church has been involved in politics and lobbying every since.

When greed under the God of Money became the only consideration when developing national policy. So long as some private entities need for money was satisfied legislation passed.

The Kristians only wish they had as much power over the government as Wall Street.

What!? I remember George W Bush stating several times he spoke with god on decisions.

From what I know, it begin to merge when "In God We Trust" was added onto the dollar bill after the Civil War. I'm trying to see if this goes back before that.
