The article ALSO included another reason why the numbers increase, which was due to the backlogs, incomplete applications. Where did the article mention how many actually stated they were giving up due to Obama policies? Where did the article state how long these incomplete applications were sitting? Where did the article state that these folks were American born and not just nationals who decided to go back home. Facts, Statistics? The article does not provide ANY STATITISTICS OR FACTS. The article did not provide any actual information. What the article did provide accurately is that the IRS is finally doing their job and going after the right people.

The fact that you would even attempt to negate the the NYtimes article, which is the reason the IRS is going after these folks is pitiful.

Continue to spin, you have gone way past embarrasing yourself. Get it together
And.....just what kind of facts and "stories" are in the old NYT piece?

According to leftists that don't like the notion that obama policies of taxation and regulation are forcing MORE people to give up their citizenship...I should be embarrassed of that for some reason?

Please. The reaction from the Left of this simple little story is truly telling. They just cannot stand any criticism of obama..period.

Truly sad the anti-business tax and regulatory environment obama has created will force what seems a record number to give up their citizenship.

How else will we pay for his massive deficit spending?

If they're leaving, then, great. My message to these people is:

"Don't let the doorknob hit you where the Good Lord split you."

According to the article, some of the cases can be attributed to "catching up", but most are due to the taxes and regulation implemented by obama.
It talks about 500 people, and it says this:

"A minority of the recent expatriates are U.S. natives who have started a new life overseas. Most are people with family ties outside the U.S.: foreign professionals who acquired a green card while working in the U.S., or people who have received higher education in the U.S."

So, these people are mostly foreigners. The article may not mention that many green card holders have left the country, but it does not change the fact that is it happening. Our jobs have been pushed overseas, and people follow the jobs. If you were a foreigner, it is easy to pick up and go wherever the jobs are. I know a whole bunch of Indian software engineers who had green cards, and they have gone back to India where there is more opportinuty. This has been going on for some time now.

You guys need to understand the mentality of the right. 500 people is a big deal, if 500 people attended a Tea Party rally in D.C. it would be reported on Fox news as thousands of people.

Today's anti-tax whiners and deserters are just cheap anti-American cowards who want a free ride on someone else's dime.
Very Good.

High income tax rates were meant to keep a relatively few families from owning, running, or corrupting everything good in our country. It was meant to protect our way of life and Democracy, and to level the playing field for the average working family. That way the voice of the people could always be heard, and a person could make a decent living wage.

High Estate taxes were setup to stop Rich families from just passing on their wealth from generation to generation, to generation. After the great depression it was well decided policy that we did not need Kings and Queens or their spoiled and self entitled heirs owning or running the country. High estate taxes would eventually return the money back to society.

Average Joe Blow could make a pretty good living back then and the middle class grew. Then came the GREED! Money went from the poor and middle classes right into the pockets of the super rich. The rich got richer and everyone else got poorer.

So blame our current economic problems on the poor and entitlements. The rich will love you for it. They may even let you smell their money if you bend down.

Then, maybe you too can join the Greedy vs Needy civil war the Glen Beck types seem to advocate.

Supertax the super wealthy and make them pay off all of the government debts owed that they disproportionally profited from. Raise taxes on income over 2 million dollars yr. back to 75-90%. Raise estate taxes to 65-85% for estates valued over 10 million.

If the billionaires wish to leave the country, tax all money they wish to move out of country first.

Raise capital gains on all gain income over 2 million dollars to 75%-90&. Lower gain tax to 5% below and up to 2 million. Tax all stock manipulator brokers profits at Income tax rates and close all loopholes.

Doubt most rich expats will be missed.

500 people out of 300 million. Wow, that's what I call a run for the border.

I don't know where they get their numbers, but I work for a large corporation, and we could have lost a hundred or so green card holders in just our company. We'll we didn't lose them, because many of them still work for us, but in our India office.
