A little history lesson on the origins of the term "redneck":
Miners wore a red bandana as identification of a striking miner in the 20's and 30's. It was also used as a term to describe a farmer, whose neck would burn red in the sun from bending over the crops.
Never in a million years did I think I'd agree with you....
but yes. I do know people of multiple different races that I would consider a 'redneck'.
Seriously? I've only ever heard of this term in connection with southern white dudes, or hillbilly-ish white dudes in other parts of the country. ETA: But I would still consider it more derogatory than racist.
If you consider working hard outdoors, and coming home with a "red neck" is a racist term, you've got other issues to worry about.
Thats where the term comes from. Farmers who worked hard, outside, all day, came home with red necks.
To most of us in the south, the term is connected to hard work, not stupidity.
