Probably the only thing I find funny about the jobless rate in our country is our Govt is telling our citizen business oweners & Corporate America to step up the hiring and production of jobs. Yet when u look at most Govt HR depts they are in a hiring freeze and have been for better part of a year now.
I asked myself w/ the Govt incentives and instructions to hire people why arent the Corporate shot callers following suit? That's when I learned it's because they realize America isn't out of the woods just yet and that it's very likely we haven't hit the bottom of this thing either.
Nice! So one fuels the other. Americans aren't ignorant we see this and this makes us go into conservation mode as well, we reduce spending on everyday things, as well as totally eliminating any non essential spending Movies, Vacations, Dinners Out, Xmas Spending, Trips to State & Govt Parks etc.
It's all a nasty circle feeding off of one another.
This morning on many news shows, i heard that the majority of People do not approve with how Obama is handling the job and economy situation, his ratings are at a all time low, and the majority of Americans, feel that Obama is going to sink us further into debt, with more small business owners, not being able to stay open, more unemployment, and most feel that his lousy Stimulus Bill has not helped us one bit. Very troublesome news, that we are going to be sinking further into trouble, with more unemployed, more bad economy news, housing crisis still going on, when will this end, bring us the HOPE AND CHANGE, many asked for.
Stock market's doing great. We just had the first positive job growth in a couple of years. It looks like the Democrats have turned things around once again.
The most troubling thing I've heard is the admission by Bernake, Volker and the CBO this week finally saying what many have known...our debt is unsustainable. That's a loaded word..the medical equivalent would be 'terminal'.
Policies/procedures need to be put into place, now, to curb it. And they're not. And the ones that will be put in will likely impede any real recovery. I agree with the OP...we've not hit bottom yet.
Of course we haven't hit bottom yet.... It doesn't take a genius to observe the economy around you and determine that it's still going in the wrong direction ! But then again if you listen to politicians and the MSM you'll see what ever picture of the economy they want you to see !
