Wait! I thought the $1 Trillion dollar stimulus was supposed to kick in to help the states.

33 states out of money to fund unemployment benefits - Apr. 8, 2010

Quote:
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- With unemployment still at a severe high, a majority of states have drained their jobless benefit funds, forcing them to borrow billions from the federal government to help out-of-work Americans.

Debt-challenged California has borrowed the most, totaling more than $8.4 billion, followed by Michigan and New York, which have loans worth more than $3 billion. Nine other states have borrowed at least $1 billion from the federal government.
This is a disaster.

The next crisis to hit is the pension fund shortage. CALPERS is bankrupt along with two other pension funds in CA. I wonder if the unemployment money finally dries up and people start to lose their pensions or benifits, they will get a clue. Today on the news (FOX) they had a report that some of our stimulous money is heading to the Canadian/Maine border to add several buildings to the customs post there. The one they have is empty and our Mexican border is on fire. So don't expect any help or bailing out with the unemployemnt money or pensions for that matter. Far more pressing issues at hand.

Because of the filibusters, Congress was not able to extend benefits before the break. Read up on it.

It's exactly where the Federal gov. wants ppl to be------control and power over the ppl------make them desperate for help-------control and power---------votes for the one's who appear to be the saviour in their time of need. They will come up with something because that is alot of voters to lose.

I assume you are currently gainfully employed. If so, pray you keep your job.

Yes--I still have a job but I am also being realistic on what is going on out there. I understand that ppl have been put between a rock and a hard place BUT should not vote the same SOB's in because of graditute. They intentionally put businesses and ppl in a bad place for power and control. Voting out the bums is the only way to get this country back on track----to really help everyone's future in the U.S.A.

This problem didn't just happen. We've been in a bad recession since 2006, (declared in 2007) the worst in a generation. There are millions out of work, and not all are just sitting on their duffs collecting funds. Bills still need to be paid, and kids need to be fed. That stuff doesn't magically disappear when the paychecks dry up.

Before you go on a vote out the bums spree, you may want to look up your reps. voting record. You may be shooting yourself in the foot.

I have looked at my reps and will vote against the bums who are helping keep the progressive agenda alive.
