This is somewhat funny, mostly painfully true.

Joe started the day early having set his alarm clock
(MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6 am. While his coffeepot
(MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his
electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG) He put on a
dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans
(MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes
(MADE IN KOREA)

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet
(MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator
(MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today.
After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio
(MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY )
filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia ) and continued his search
for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day
checking his computer (made in MALAYSIA ), John decided to relax for a while.
He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL),poured himself a glass of
wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA),
and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job
in AMERICA

AND NOW HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM A PRESIDENT
MADE IN KENYA.

Well self help is best what we all as a nation need to do is to save money. Put it in the credit union not the bank. We need to be saving enough to buy our own natiuonal debt. We don't actualy have to buy T bills but if we all save enough money to buy them then we will have a lot of the problems with trade imbalance going away. And you will be able to buy stuff made in America again.

The post signifies the need for trade tariffs.

I agree.

Trade tariffs I don't like. invisible trade barriers that I do like. Like tort reform. If you sell a defective item made in a different country you are libel for any damages that result. That should put a damper on selling cheap stuff from china. Got lead paint? Sue Wally World.

Savings rate is an other invisible trade barrier. The country with the highest savings rate exports to all other countries..

When we start making money once again, from other countries wanting to do business here, instead of us citizens paying them to do business here and then we line their pockets with riches.....

I'm all for sky high trade tariffs!
You just think the industrial revolution of the turn of the last century was big. It would be even bigger. You could build it here, sell it here and still be able to compete on a level playing field.

Wow, really dragging up old crap to take a birther shot. You can see this same email chain letter posted at least to 2001 in the AOL List Serve. The sad part is this diatribe was against conservative business elites sending away American jobs for cheaper labor overseas to line their pockets while the honest American factory worker starves. Nice attempt at a rehash for the other end of the spectrum.

[CTRL] Joe Smith started the day early... j2

What would be just as good and be win win for everyone is to ask our trading partners that have pay rates as low as $1 per day or less to pay their workers that do work that will end up valued in US dollars to pay their workes doing that work $5 a day and working towards US minimum wage. That will cause a boom in the world economy like you've never seen before. If they don't want to pay their workers a good wage then we can go for the Sky high trade tariffs.

Your naive to think, your going to compete with slave and forced child labor and tell them you need to pay them $5 a day?

You can wake up now.

Not telling asking very nicely. And if they don't like it then prunitive tariffs that are way more money. So that it would be cheaper to pay the $5 per day.
