WWL-TV: The bill's author, state Rep. Rickey Hardy, a Republican, said the law would simply provide for the well being of police officers who, rather than having to wait on running criminal checks during routine traffic stops, could use licenses to find out a person's drug history immediately, saying, "We don't want to run the name and then the person shoots at the officer while he's doing that."
This is stupid. A drug offender is no more likely to shoot the cop than someone else with something to hide.
Drug offender/license to drive...one has nothing to do with the other and it's crazy to co-mingle them this way. And why stop there? I can think of many other offenses too.
Seriously, why don't you also put on the license that the person lifted a candy bar when they were 10. I just don't really see what the point of this would be.

seriously how stupid is this? If you are carrying a license with you pretty much are obeying the laws when it comes to driving!
Another restriction by a Republican?

Ricky Hardy use to be a member of the Lafayette Parish School board. He's one of the hardest working Louisiana Black politicians in the state. One of the things he's continued to try to push for is an increase in required grades for student playing school sports. Within his district, he's well respected by both white and black voters.
