China is using its new wealth to build a blue water navy with the intent of protecting shipping routs to foreign materials it needs (like coal and oil). It is ineveitable that they will start making provocative actions to test other nations' resolve. They love to do close fly-bys with their planes and helicopters it seems. Rememebr the Hainan incident when they clipped wings with a US survalence plane? Looks like they haven't learned their lesson. Oh how I wish Japan had China's military strength and China had Japan's (which is to say practically none).

If china builds military hardware like they build everything else with a "Made in China" sticker we have nothing to worry about.

Their plastic rudders will break, their steel hulls will rust out in 6 months and their sailors will suffocate from formaldehyde fumes in the wall panels.

Yeah remember the last time Japan had a massive military?

Good times, especially for the Chinese.

Still better than the Chinese having one. Ultimately Japan doesn't have the manpower or the resources to maintain a sizable millitary. China does.

Well as long as China doesn't sell that technology to a country like----Iran, we should be alright. I mean, they wouldn't do anything like that, now would they?

It would be better for the world if that were true, but unfortunately, one of the few things they're good at making, is weapons and other military stuff. They also don't care if a bunch of their people die anyways.

China is pumping up. They know that there is no body to stand in their way. Our blue water fleet is not what it used to be, and we are also rather busy elsewhere. I would not underestimate the Chinese. Sure, our equipment is better, but we don't have enough of it anymore to counter a massive threat. Our defense spending is notoriously wasteful and unproductive. The Chinese know where our weaknesses are, and they are going to be probing them more and more. Anyone who thinks that the Chinese, or the Russians for that matter, are our 'friends' or 'partners' in anything is a fool. The only thing that scares them about us is our tech edge, particularly in submarine warfare, but they also know how thin those resources are stretched, and how badly neglected much of our stuff is. LMAO, when you compare what they spend on their military, and how they spend, to the US, well, it's rather frightening.
