hardly surprising.

Tea party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public, tend to be Republican, white, male, and married, and their strong opposition to the Obama administration is more rooted in political ideology than anxiety about their personal economic situation, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Wow. A Tea Party thread that calls them by the proper name and doesn't say they are racist.

Didn't think these were allowed.

Maybe they got tired of my jokes regarding Andersen Cooper and Barney Frank being the heads of the teabagger party?

The Tea Party ilk are a bunch of greedy and racist hypocrits.

We want smaller government and to cut taxes (just don't touch our Socialism Security and Medicare benefits)

We don't care that our grandkids are paying our Socialism Security and Medicare benefits out of their paychecks, as long as we don't have to spend a dime on their healthcare, we're fine with that.

We aren't bigots, we just don't like President Obama because he's Black and he's going to favor Black people over us (not based on his policies, mind you, but you know how "those people" are)

Drivel. The Tea Party started in 2007. The president was white.

And they aren't talking about rolling back any programs. They don't want any NEW prgrams or any NEW taxes. See the difference?

And they paid for the social security and medicare. Not their grandkids. They got a right to want to protect it.

Class Dismissed.

Teabagger racism is exposed in the poll......you just have to look a little closer:

They are more likely than the general public, and Republicans, to say that too much has been made of the problems facing black people.

Actually, I found it very surprising, but I'll concede that my impressions of Tea Partiers have been heavily influenced by the images of them in the media. The cameras focus on the more flamboyant characters in the crowd, giving us a false impression of what the average Tea Partier is like. It's similar to gay pride events where the cameras focus on the more colorful characters - to put it nicely - giving the public a warped view of what the average attendee is like.
