The obamas are generous to charities & paid their fair share of taxes. They did not grow up in a well to do family like george w.bush. Michelle was raised on the poor side of chicago. http://news.mobile.msn.com/en-us/art...1&aid=36563288

Good for them.

Anybody in this country can be successful. The Obamas are case and point.

The American Dream.

What a wonderful country.

Wow! 32.5% in taxes. I guess they haven't learned how to take advantage of tax loopholes. Or, maybe the don't think it is fair to do that. Is there some tax reform coming? Are there some wealthy people afraid of what might be coming? Hmmm.

I agree. Too bad the Left didn't apply the same standard to Sarah Palin when her income was disclosed recently.

Loophole use isn't as widespread as you seem to think. I have no clue how the "loophole" myth got started, or why it persists. Perhaps it's just a common misperception among the ignorant. Who knows?

The first couple would be in line with the other top 1%ers. Look at the average effective tax rates by income level here:

The Obama are recently generous to charity: since he has been elected only. As a Senator and prior, no, not so much.

No one get a pat on the back for following the tax law. Though many he has chosen in his cabinet have failed to do so and deserve admonishment & punishment.

Palin turned her back on the people of Alaska to earn her money.

You are going to tell us that diverting income so as not to be considered taxable, is NOT widespread among the top 1%? Look at GW Bush, 2007, total taxable income $700K? Please don't abuse our sensibilities.
