The nationwide telephone poll was conducted April 5-12 with 1,580 adults. For the purposes of analysis, Tea Party supporters were oversampled, for a total of 881, and then weighted back to their proper proportion in the poll.

What we pay is not unfair. It is what happens to the dollars once they enter the hands of wreckless beurocrats.

Its about getting value for our tax dollars and right now we mine as well be flushing our tax dollars down the toilet.

Of course they would. 47% of people now pay no income taxes. If I were one of them I would say my taxes are fair, too.

Disagree. We are over taxed. And our taxes are wasted.

Yep, they scaled back what could have been Tea Party people to get the numbers they wanted. That is pure al Times procedure.

I would agree with it also if I could be in that 47% who get back and end up not paying at all.

To be fair, I think (outside of the 47% no taxie population) that our tax system is mostly fair. I gripe and would prefer a flatter system, but I can see why a progressive tax makes sense.

My biggest problem is that some people (dems) seem to think the answer to everything is to raise taxes. We don't have a shortage of money. We have senseless, irrational, inefficient spending. Why is that so hard to wrap your head around?

They oversampled to get a true picture of the group rather than treating as background.

...because nearly 50% of Americans don't even pay income tax. The rest of us foot their bill.
