The NY Times is reporting in a front page article that "Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates has warned in a secret three-page memorandum to top White House officials that the United States does not have an effective long-range policy for dealing with Iran’s steady progress toward nuclear capability"
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/18/world/middleeast/18iran.html?hp

Obama has accomplished NOTHING regarding Iranian nukes. The centrifuges churn on. A-jad and the mullah's just continuously give the US the finger. We have a weak, inexperienced, and DANGEROUS "commander-in-chief" guiding our foreign policy.

But finally someone is pointing out that the emperor wears no clothes.

Good. We shouldn't be "handling" them at all- or Israel for that matter. I don't give a damn if they want to nuke Israel- I do give a damn about the unemployment, economy, and other things.

I'm not sure why you had to throw your opinion at the end of this. Hopefully Gates will push them to develop a more effective plan, but to link it to Obama being inexperienced or whatever is rather naive. As I recall, the Bush administration's 'plan' was to invade another sovereign country.

Remember when all the media was giving us the propaganda to fear Iran toward the end of Bush's presidency? Then it all stopped when they didn't invade. I'd rather Obama enhance the course he's on - which is using sanctions and diplomacy to isolate Iran from the rest of the world.

Gee, Gates says the United States has no effective policy and you find it necessary to say Obama has no effective policy?

Uh, Isn't it the job of the Defense Department to devlop effective Defense policy?

Why waste your time typing? Why not just start a thread saying you'd like to blame Obama for everything and be done with it?

Who needed a top secret memo to realize this?

It is apparent he does not and never has had a strategy to deal with Iran.

He probably thought his silence while Iran beat and murdered protesters in Iran would be enough to "unclench" their fist toward the US.

3 deadlines now have come and gone without any consequences.

I think it clear Iran and the rest of the world knows they are dealing with a paper tiger, easily cowed.

What should be the consequences? Bomb them? Nuke them? Invade?
