H.R.45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - U.S. Congress - OpenCongress

"To provide for the implementation of a system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms and for a record of sale system for those firearms, and for other purposes."

Does this mean if I own a "qualifying weapon" that isn't registered, I have to go through all this stuff??

Please explain your position. I'm personally not familiar with this particular bill. Does the 2009 mean he's simply resubmitting the same bill every year? I assume you know since you say its been dead "for years?"

Basically yes. There are all sorts of crazy bills that are proposed but only a few end up being realistically considered. Blair Holt is one of the wackier ones and has never been seriously pushed forward due to lack of support.

There are credible threats to personal arms to be concerned about but this isn't one of them.

Bobby Rush is a coat-tails, gravy train representative who gets about zero respect from anyone on the hill above "intern" pay grade and no bill that he has touched or had a hand authoring has ever (or probably will ever) become law.
