I never understodd why the message of the moral majority never reached most blacks, especially Southern blacks. I'm sure the majority of black churches preach the word of God unlike Jeremiah's and many black people are against same sex marriage and abortion and feel that national defense and the war on terrorism is important. Is it because of affirmative action?

I think it has more to do with government assistance - welfare, job programs, etc. Social conservatism doesn't help anyone find a job, and it doesn't pay the bills.

However many black people I know regardless of income level, including those who will be hurt by Obama's socialized medicine plan, including a woman whose husband's job is being threatened by the influx of illegal Mexicans into Baltimore, support Obama. Maybe they wanted to "make history", which I as a minority disagree with since we should vote for the candidate based on values not on skin color. But they have ALWAYS been Democratic. In so many parts of Virginia and rural parts of Maryland, practically the ONLY Democrats are blacks. The only thing my heritage affects my voting patterns is that my grandfather lived in China during the communist revolution so we were raised to hate communism and socialism. But then that is what any good AMerican would do anyway. I don't vote based on race but I do vote based on faith. To me now, the most important issue is abortion, I will NEVER vote for someone who is pro-life, that is the one issue that will completely destroy a candidate in my eyes.

I was on the Eastern Shore of Maryland a few months before the election, and I hardly saw a single car with an Obama sticker that was not driven by a black person, or an Obama yard sign that was not ptu their by a black homeowner. Even here in Baltimore it seems the only people who STILL have Obama stickers on their cars are black people (many of these are ghetto in this area gotta give you that), young college kids with their heads in the clouds, or the occassional illegal Mexican.
