An RNC mailer obtained by TPMmuckraker bears the words "Census Document" and, in all caps, "DO NOT DESTROY/OFFICIAL DOCUMENT," on the outside of the envelope. In smaller letters, it says: "This is not a U.S. government document." The new law requires, among other things, that such mailers state the name and address of the sender on the outside of the envelope -- something the RNC's missive doesn't appear to do. Inside, a letter from RNC chair Michael Steele, dated April 12, asks recipients to fill out a questionnaire about their political views, and solicits donations of as much as $500 or more. (See the mailer here.)
I guess they're trying to impress folks with duplicity skills. Care to venture how many bobble heads are mailing them back checks thinking that was an official census?
Whats so terrible, they send out a questionaire to find out how their supporters feel about issues being voted on in Washington? Wouldnt want imput from the public, would we?

Only an idiotic fool would do such a thing. Nothing mis-repesented in the letter.. I note how they didnt include the questionaire as a .pdf.. gees, I wonder why? I know.. I know.. Because they want to mislead individuals on the intent of the letter, while accusing the RNC of trying to mislead the public..
Special Notice: You have been selected to represent Republican Voters in California's __ Congressional District. This is not a U.S. Government document..
It does not have "this is not a US Government document" in smaller letters as proclaimed
It does NOT mislead the receiver as the intent of the document.
They send the same envelope out to the same individuals every 6 months or so, with different questions inside..

It claims that it's a census document on the envelope.
furthermore: The new law requires, among other things, that such mailers state the name and address of the sender on the outside of the envelope
HUMM... now the RNC is not following the law.

I was being sarcastic sorry I should have put lol or something to make that more apparent lol
I could careless. There is so many more important things to worry about then this
It claims that it's a census document on the envelope.
A census is a count of the population and their ability to register... Granted the timing of the use "census" seems to be confusing to liberals who seem to think there is only ONE census in america..
Synonyms:demographics, demography, enumeration, poll, population tally, statistics, stats
Thats exactly what the mailing is.. a poll, a statistic, used to determine the demoghraphics of the supporters..

This might indeed be an issue, but no way shape or form is this a "phony census" mailer.. Anyone with intelligence can easily tell that by looking at both the evenlope, and the survey enclosed.. (which they conveniently dont provide a copy of)..
At least the RNC is consistent - they've always thought the American people are as dumb as a box of rocks. I'm sure they'll get some donations out of it, but the thing I'd love to know is how many right-wing sheeple fall for the "... $15 to help defray the cost of processing my Census Document", or better yet, how many recipients see the words "Census Document" on the mailer and throw it away without even opening it, thinking it's from the $@#% federal government?
