Oh...I get it now...it's just a couple of fringe fundamentalist anti-gay Christian Psychiatrists who base their ideas on ludicrous, outdated, discredited, scientifically unsupported Freudian notions liberally mixed with scripture and Bible prophecy.

Why are you posting this nonsense? Did you not research the source first?
Maybe. But there is precious little science supporting the other side, either. Up until the early 70's homosexuality was considered a psychological disorder. As a result of lobbying by homosexual groups the APA then took a vote and de-listed homosexuality as a disorder. There was no science behind that vote and any putative "science" since then has been to try to vindicate that vote. The only thing we know for sure is that the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures condemn out-of-wedlock sex--whether heterosexual or homosexual.

From the American Psychiatric Association:

Quote:
The theories of "reparative" therapists define homosexuality as either a developmental arrest, a severe form of psychopathology, or some combination of both (10-15). In recent years, noted practitioners of "reparative" therapy have openly integrated older psychoanalytic theories that pathologize homosexuality with traditional religious beliefs condemning homosexuality (16,17,18).

You are incorrect. There has been a wealth of studies on homosexuality in the past 60 years. Your "info" looks like propaganda straight from right-winged religious anti-gay websites like NARTH -who probably hate the APA because the APA have condemned their "pray away the gay" therapy as ineffective, unscientific and dangerous. Joseph Nicolosi (founder of NARTH and reparative therapy) was one of those religiously motivated psychiatrists who forced a vote because they "fiercely opposed" the decision.

As a result of lobbying, the APA did a complete review of all the literature and studies on homosexuality and found there was no evidence for pathologising homosexuality. It was because of all evidence from all the STUDIES that homosexuality was removed from the DSM. There are stringent guidelines for adding, changing or removing anything from the DSM. The main criteria is that it must be based on empirical evidence from peer-reviewed studies and literature.

Homosexuality and Mental Health
Quote:
In 1973, the weight of empirical data, coupled with changing social norms and the development of a politically active gay community in the United States, led the Board of Directors of the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Some psychiatrists who fiercely opposed their action subsequently circulated a petition calling for a vote on the issue by the Association's membership. That vote was held in 1974, and the Board's decision was ratified.
...
Confronted with overwhelming empirical evidence and changing cultural views of homosexuality, psychiatrists and psychologists radically altered their views, beginning in the 1970s.
...

Some psychologists and psychiatrists still hold negative personal attitudes toward homosexuality. However, empirical evidence and professional norms do not support the idea that homosexuality is a form of mental illness or is inherently linked to psychopathology.

It would be as deviant for a homosexual to try to be attracted to a member of the oppposite sex as it would for you to try to be attracted to a member of your same sex.

Understand now?

Sorry, I'm not giving any credibility to evangelical psychiatrists views on sexuality. Waaaay too subjective.
Not to mention that a quick Google search gives the info that the thing was published FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!

There are endless examples of real studies on homosexuality which have been distorted and misrepresented by a small minority of religiously motivated anti-homosexual psychologists and psychiatrists and their cohorts to suit their prejudiced views.

Here are just a few:

Joseph Nicolosi distorts and misrepresents study:

YouTube - Dr. Lisa Diamond: 'NARTH Distorted My Research'

James Dobson misrepresents and distorts research:

YouTube - James Dobson distorts research...again!

Dr Paul Cameron accused by a federal Judge of fraud and misrepresentation:

Quote:
In his written opinion in Baker v. Wade (1985), Judge Buchmeyer of the U.S. District Court of Dallas referred to "Cameron's sworn statement that 'homosexuals abuse children at a proportionately greater incident than do heterosexuals,'" and concluded that "Dr. Paul Cameron...has himself made misrepresentations to this Court" and that "There has been no fraud or misrepresentations except by Dr. Cameron"
This same Paul Cameron's "work" was used by another anti-gay author Richard Cohen whose book is being used by the anti-gay Ugandan government in it's death sentence legislation against gays:

Grow up!

It must suck to live in a small narrow-minded world. I feel so sorry for you that you can't love and have compassion and tolerance for all of God's creations, including the gay ones. If you play the Christian card....Jesus loved and preached to society's fallen and downcast, He was on their side-The Meek shall inherit the Earth.

Afterall, the Bible says, "God created Man in His image." Ergo, even if taken literally everyone who has, is, or will live, will be in the likeness of God Himself.

I think some people only feel safe in a "small narrow world" and attack anyone or anything that shows it's a lot bigger.

Yes, that's the line espoused by the anti-gay crowd. So typical. If they don't like the science, they just say it's all made up, or it's all a conspiracy. Oh well. If they want to be ignorant, I guess that's their choice.
