The Democrats always say they are for the working class but in reality, they are only serving the unionized working class (especially governmental unionized employees). The non-unionized working class is stuck with the higher taxes that comes with a unionized governmental workforce. The rich will always find their loopholes so any tax increases will always fall upon the middle class. No Democratic has ever truly balanced the scales of shifting the tax burden onto the rich. The only REAL solution is a flat tax, which would cause those earning lower wages to pay less and those who earn more will pay more. No exemptions or other loopholes and you will truly have the higher income brackets paying more and the middle class paying less as a flat tax is based upon earnings with no adjustments.

My brother wrote his take on this subject back during the Dubya years:

Quote:
TOP TEN REASONS WHY I AM CONVERTING FROM DEMOCRAT TO REPUBLICAN:

10. I can buy a few hookers with my middle class tax break.

9. I’m too old for the military.... bombs away!

8. Even if I had a job, it probably wouldn’t be the kind that can be outsourced.

7. Stem cell research doesn’t do me any good. I’m not paralyzed, I don’t have diabetes and I don’t have that memory disease...I forget what you call it.

6. Ozone? Wetlands? Forests? Screw em, we need hardwood floors and decks around the pool.

5. If the top 2% aren’t filthy rich what do the other 98% have to aspire to?

4. Assault weapons? Stock up...you’re going to need them.

3. I’m not going fishing in the Gulf or hiking across Alaska....fire up those drills, I want some cheap gas.

2. What few women I date are too old to get knocked up.....stack the court and overturn Roe V. Wade.

and the number one reason I am switching to the Republican Party.... Can 58 million people really be that stupid??

That guy that works on the plant floor toiling away - he’s just a lazy union worker who hates America.
You lost all credibility right there.

So you like what the banking and mortgage industries did to the country?

More power to you; I prefer caring for our citizens, not our corporations.

But no problem with supporting corporations that pay no taxes?
No problem with paying for wars?
The GDP is germane to this conversation.
More money is paid to corporations and the war industry than to people.

I'd rather support people any day of the week.

Sure you aren't a socialist?

One of the sayings socialists like is: People over profits.

Eugene V. Debs said he was a socialist because he cares for humanity.

I disagree with some of what you say.
Democrats work to serve the rich, just like the Republicans work to serve the rich. Sure you have a few Democrats that are doing right by the people but there aren't enough of them.

As for a flat tax, it's just a regressive tax that hits the poor and middle class harder than it does the rich. Most of the really rich make their money on stocks and investments. The best way to hit them is to raise the tax on capital gains. No loopholes or anything.

Both parties like to give lip service to the middle class but they really serve the rich. The sooner most people learn this, the sooner we can move forward as a country and take back our country from corporate rule.

If your main goal is to support people and pay people why don't you cut out the middle man and support taking less money from the people in the first place? Oh wait, I know why... you want to only support and pay certain people and you expect others to pay for it right?

You're a damn fool if you vote for Republicans. They're part of the problem.
