Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City, asked Shelton if he characterized the Black Panthers as an unauthorized militia.
"Are they going around terrorizing communities, doing drive-by shootings, using ammonium nitrate to blow up buildings?” Shelton asked. "When they start doing that, they would be considered (that).”
Uh yeah! They are. They murdered police officers back in the 70's. They "keep watch" at polling stations. But of course they aren't included in this bill. This just bans militia groups (almost always white) the klan (always white).

In the 1970's which was more than 30 years ago?
There's a contingent of Black Panthers in Oklahoma??? Is that group planning and plotting today watching polling stations in 2010?
If they are then watch them, but I haven't heard a word about the Black Panthers since 1978. Much ado about nothing on your part.
All groups should be watched which are subversive to the government and threatens citizens. I don't care what ethnicity, skin color or religion the members are.
The bill will likely be found unconstitutional, in violation of the first and possibly second amendments.
I'm not seeing the logic here. If states are responsible for organizing and maintaining militia(s) in their state, what in the Constitution prohibits them from saying "we choose NOT to have a (or any) militia?" Making that choice would seem to be their right.
I agree with arctic that such a bill would probably be found Unconstitutional. But I also have to point out that the bill is actually an anti-gang bill, not an anti-white bill. And that it was amended when several tea partiers protested, so that the governor could actually authorize a militia if tea partiers petitioned him to do so. Oklahoma could hardly be characterized as an "anti-white" state, or even as a "politically correct" state, or even remotely "liberal".
