Is it good for the party? Is it good for the country? What about politically speaking, good for their party? I personally think in the long run this will hurt the party. Any gains made will be short lived. They are going to bring in some fringe elements that were never involved with the party before, but at the expense of many moderates. The rhetoric, the Tea Party movement is not sustainable. Once they gain power, the whole "kick em out, overthrow the government, take our country back" schtick, which is 50% of their rhetoric, will no longer apply. What are they left with? Hard to be a rebel when you are in power.

An extreme, no matter the political ideology, is never good for anyone.

Most of their appeal is because of the bigoted views of their white, right wing, elderly base.
Soon liberal whites along with the growing minority population will have them outnumbered in the swing states.
I just hope minorities by then will not be as mean spirited as they are now looking for pay back.

Beware of the gay agenda! Minorities are taking over! Hollywood elites! Big city liberals! They're outlawing prayer! Socialism! Communism! Terrorist sympathizers!
