"B-1" Bob Dornan - avoided Korean War combat duty by enrolling in college acting classes (Orange County Weekly article). Enlisted only after the fighting was over in Korea.
Phil Gramm - avoided the draft, did not serve, four (?) student deferments

there is a list out there just as long with democrats that never served in the military as well. please do not limit it to just republicans.

you can include politicians such as both clintons, fdr, pbo and other as a start.

Ironic the word freedom is mixed in with mandatory.

The US doesn't own it's citizens. That notion is lost on a lot of people from left and right. With no draft we may have avoided Korea and Vietnam. Our beautiful sons and daughters that gave their lives up for their country would be with us right now. They deserved better.
We should only go to war in defense of our country. George Washington is turning over in his grave.

Sure. There are alot of liberals in the military. I think you are confusing those who call themselves "democrats" with "liberals". One is one of the two major political parties. The other group is made up of self hating loonies.
