What Cronkite did was far from the truth. He, like the rest of the media, discarded thier responsibility for objectivity and chose a political side. In doing so, they "changed" the truth to suit thier needs.
A famous photo shoot of Dan Rather tells the tale. In the second siege of Kehsahn, one military transport plane was shot down. One. Dan Rather and his crew shot that plane from many different angles to give the impression of multiple crashes, and then started his "report", "I stand here is a graveyard of airplanes at Kehsahn".
From that point on, the media in the US has become the propaganda wing for liberalism and has ceased to be an objective source of information.
Yes- Walter Cronkite should have been hung. But again, now that he is dead, being drawn and quartered and displaying his head on the flagpole of the capital would suffice.
