That they care about our country's debt and deficit. Slashing our revenue through tax cuts combined with weak, symbolic spending reductions is their great plan to save our country? While they fight to keep emptying the coffers through payments to the ridiculously wealthy oil industry? It's unbelievable that anyone would defend or vote for these people.

Not to mention that a large portion of our deficit is because of a Republican president.

No one disagrees that we need to reassess government spending. However, this is a long term goal. Right now our economy has not fully recovered, and as much as right wingers hate it, government spending and investment is proven to help the economy. Fiscal austerity during an economic depression is a recipe for disaster. Look at what's happening in Europe.

So wait!!! If spending more is better (when you don't have the money) I'm running out right now to buy everything I can.

I think people are realizing the GOP is generally dying along with their ideology and generation that actually believes the stuff they spout.

This stuff may have been relevant in the past when they had the post WW economy and that horrible individualist attitude, but it's time to stop with the backwards policies.

Society will be much better once some of the older generation dies off. That's all the GOP has.

The GOP has become as much of a joke as the DEMs.We are effectively a one party country.

Yea, the new fiscal conservatism is all political theater. You would not see it at all with a GOP president. And you did not see it under Bush. You would think that someone concerned about the deficit would have opposed at least one of the tax cuts or one of the wars.

I opposed three out of four of those, and I don't recall too many Republicans in my side back then.

Default Bottom line is government thinks your money is their entitlement!

Ron Paul cares about this nations debt. Those very few who voted against raising the debt ceiling care.

The GOP does not represent fiscal conservativism or responsiblity any more than Obama with a Reid/Pelosi led Congress.

The 2011 income taxes filed by Americans during this first quarter of 2012 will pay approx. 4 months of interest on our nation's debt. If that doesn't tell you that we are royally scr*wed then contemplate this one: By 2015 the interest on the US debt will exceeed the entire military budget.

The GOPs biggest lie is that they care about poor people, or black people, or women, or even the Tea Partiers.

Democrats biggest lie? That they care about poor people, or black people, or women.

I used to enjoy this forum but it seems to have a disproportionate number of nut jobs, but of nearly every flavor. Very diverse, nice job. So I am joining them, since even when you beat em, they just ignore it. Woo hoo.

Europe is full of rioting entitlement monsters and we have them here as well.
When you give away stuff and then take it away you get withdrawal like a drug.
We need to withdraw after a few months most stuff not related to the elderly and disabled.
We need to cut the size of the government which is like a 750 pound man. Needs to be slimmed down to 200.

Republicans IMO fear the effects of giving the treasury away for decades by the Democrats.
Democrats also grew the hell out of government employment and overpaid them. They in turn give billions to the Democrat party and Republicans don't like to deal with that.

Meanwhile the takers/government employees want the private sector to grow their tax liability and to lighten their assets. Pure evil IMO.
