Never mind about others for a second. Let's talk about you
Can you truthfully say that YOU would never, ever, under any circumstances enter a place of business (restaurant, doctor's office, bar, fast food joint) that had a WHITES ONLY sign on its door?
I wouldn't and I don't know anybody who would BUT if the owner was that stupid, should it be his RIGHT to be stupid?
People have no problem telling others about their RIGHT TO CHOOSE DEATH?
Why doesn't a stupid person have a right to be stupid?
It is not against the law to kill a baby because you have a right to choose.
Ya, Senator Byrd, Grand Dragon of the KKK... Racist to the bone.
Senator Byrd is left or right wing? I thought so!
You do know, MLK was a staunch Republican. JFK made a deal with MLK, to gain the black vote and only to gain the black voters. You have to ask, why was MLK and his father, both Republicans?
The civil right bill was composed by a majority of Republicans with Democrats apposing it.
Note: "Southern", as used in this section, refers to members of Congress from the eleven states that made up the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. "Northern" refers to members from the other 39 states, regardless of the geographic location of those states.
The original House version:
Southern Democrats: 7-87 (7%-93%)
Southern Republicans: 0-10 (0%-100%)
Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%-6%)
Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%-15%)
The Senate version:
Southern Democrats: 1-20 (5%-95%)
Southern Republicans: 0-1 (0%-100%)
Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%-2%)
Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%-16%)
If the Republicans want to claim a special relationship with Dr. King then go for it, but I think you should also start practicing what he was preaching.
I want to say to you as I move to my conclusion, as we talk about "Where do we go from here?" that we must honestly face the fact that the movement must address itself to the question of restructuring the whole of American society. (Yes) There are forty million poor people here, and one day we must ask the question, "Why are there forty million poor people in America?" And when you begin to ask that question, you are raising a question about the economic system, about a broader distribution of wealth. When you ask that question, you begin to question the capitalistic economy. (Yes) And I'm simply saying that more and more, we've got to begin to ask questions about the whole society. We are called upon to help the discouraged beggars in life's marketplace. (Yes) But one day we must come to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring. (All right) It means that questions must be raised. And you see, my friends, when you deal with this you begin to ask the question, "Who owns the oil?" (Yes) You begin to ask the question, "Who owns the iron ore?" (Yes) You begin to ask the question, "Why is it that people have to pay water bills in a world that's two-thirds water?" (All right) These are words that must be said. (All right)
This topic isnt about allowing certain groups to buy your goods or services. It is about whether or not one believes the fed govt should be able to tell private businesses who they can and cant hire.
What ever gave you that idea? Have you read all the pages on this thread?
Title 2 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 refers to access to restaurants, hotels, stores, etc. Segregation has been a part of this thread since its inception.
I have read your posts in earlier pages of this thread. Please don't pretend like segregation hasn't been discussed.
I dont know, there are lots of racists just chafing to be "allowed" to "be themselves"... break free from the cruel chains of "political correctness" you know.
And there is also alot of racists that are demanding special treatment and demand that the world engage in useless Political Correctness because they have thin skin and think everything is about them only. Everyone should be allowed to be themselves, there should be no facade that has to be put into place because someone's feelings might get hurt.

Wow. You're right. I apologize. Such a long thread, I forgot what all was discussed.

An owner of a business has every right to accept or deny whatever customers they want. This very forum does it.
I wouldn't and I don't know anybody who would BUT if the owner was that stupid, should it be his RIGHT to be stupid?

Completely OT.
