Plus, the US may not want to withdraw in order to avoid the impression the West despite its high-tech army lost against the primitive Taliban.

When you are at war you need to know the enemy to be successful. Yet Bush didn't know there was a difference between the Sunni and Shia. The sectarian war followed after the fall of Baghdad was a result of Bush's ignorance. Saddam was Sunni and the Sunni Bath Party controlled what was know as the Sunni triangle - they suppressed the Shia in the south.

Also, Bush's father after winning Desert Storm told the Shia in the south to rise up against Saddam, yet he offered no support when they tried. Saddam slaughtered them by the hundreds of thousands. Do you think Shia had an axe to grind against the Sunni?

BTW, I disagree with President Obama, IMO we should get the HELL out of Afghanistan. There is nothing to be gained there and everthing to lose.

They need to be eliminated, no exceptions.

My heart goes out to our fallen warriors and their families. I hate this current government but respect anyone who served (especially Vietnam Vets, who got NO respect), is serving or will serve a country with a broken government populated with anti-American imbeciles.
And guess what? It was the liberal progressives who spat upon our soldiers when they returned from Vietnam. You know, the people who surround Obama in the White House.
