U.S. withdrawal from Iraq will be on time, Vice President Biden says

"The sensitive departure is being managed by Vice President Biden, who says the U.S. military will reduce troop levels to 50,000 this summer, even if no new Iraqi government takes shape."

I hope this will put to bed the incessant threads claiming Obama isn't keeping his promise to leave Iraq. They are actually right on schedule with this difficult task.

Which date is he going with now? No matter how they word it we'll have thousands of troops in Iraq for ever, otherwise we wouldn't need that billion dollar military base we just built. Obama should stick to things like mismanaging oil spills.

I thought the SOF agreement stated that base was to be closed and turned over to the Iraqis.

We have thousands of troops in Korea, Germany and all around the world but of course you don't complain about them. This shows that you no real response. By the way, Obama didn't make the pipe burst, didn't deregulate the oil industry and he didn't sit around for the last 8 years while our country did not nothing to improve our capability to respond to this kind of problem.

Of course you're just as clueless as usual, I want us to bring all of our troops home and I've wanted that for a looooong time.

I know Obama didn't cause the explosion but he's failed miserably handling the response to it and his inability to control his people is painfully evident.

What I find interesting is the reference to a "strong American civilian" presence to keep the peace and advance democracy after the withdrawl. I thought there was an all out assault on military contracting by this Halliburton-hating Administration?
