Seems every gay in the workplace wants to inform everyone they are gay then debate everyone about gay marriage.
Strange that the straight guys who are shacking up with a woman they're not married to aren't constantly wanting your opinion on it so they can start a debate.
I've yet to read a single post on this 25 page page thread that says "I"m gay--- let's debate"... seems to me it's the straight people making this an issue.
And that's a stereotype anyway. Have you worked with a lot of gay people in the workplace and this is your personal experience? I wonder how many people that you have worked with who are gay, and you assume they are not, because they don't fit your stereotype. Chances are you know some people who are gay, without you knowing they are gay.

But if we did have openly serving gays, we would see a sort of self segregation, as I saw during the drug use era of the 1970s. One end of the barracks will belong to the gays, another to straights, with the bisexuals in another. The commanders will have to ask every new person checking into their unit what sexual persuasion they are in order to billet them, so as to avoid morale and disciplinary problems.

Really? Do gay men somehow by the fact that they are gay have different rules to follow regarding sexual harassment? Do they have an "extra penis" or more sexual hormones? In what way are they different? (Other than the fact that they prefer men to women, that is.)

That IS how they are different. That is the whole point of the post I made. Im glad I have mastered the ability to put my thoughts on the internet so that others can understand.

Not when you are trying to run a military unit. There is a reason commanders do not place women and men in the same living quarters, telling them not to harass one another or engage in sex does not eliminate morale problems, or make the obvious go away.
Commanders try their best to eliminate any distractions or possible scenarios which can cause morale and discipline problems. Thy have a mission to complete, or an enemy to defeat.
