Wasn't it fun!
How American to be told what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and what with and how much your worth to them. Too bad all government jobs are not like that. We would see less people wanting to work for the government.
They don't control EVERY aspect except in basic training. The rest of the time you have latitude when you are off duty.

I would do it if I didn't have other offers.

Are you self employed or are you an employee?
This could explain a lot. It would be a bonus.. Private or government job?

When your held accountable and hold some liability for your actions, any human is going to do a better job, or go find another line of work, when they are held accountable.
Everyone should be classified as self employed! Where your
Professionalism
Responsibility
Integrity
Dependability
Education

Gets you the contract.

There is a pecking order now, at all businesses with employees.
Your fooling yourself if you feel different. Boss down tier.
Everyone is not equal in any workplace. Our government has tried to force that without taking into account, not everyone is equal in skills, education and IQ.

You have a baseless argument.
Is there a pecking order of businesses you use and patronize? Or do you go to them all to be fair about it.

Not much latitude. You still have to set a good example, while out on the economy.

I consider paid vacation time as another form of compensation in addition to my salary. If a potential employer does not offer paid vacations, then I would request to be compensated by being allowed upaid vacation time with two weeks worth of pay added to my annual salary.

So if I would make $1000 a week (gross) and my salary would be $52000/year and if the employer did not offer paid vacation time, then I would request $54000/year. If he will not do that, then I'd 'adjust' my salary to $50000/year and use that as the benchmark salary for comparison with other potential employers.

If he said he would not allow vacation time at all, then that would not be acceptable to me.

What if you worked 3 -12 hour days and had 4 days off. If you worked the 3 days your off you get the next week off. If you work 7 -12 hour days, you get 7 days off, paid.

What if instead of being employed, your boss comes to you on payday and says< "from this day forward, you are all subcontractors"???

Don't think it could happen? Think about the new healthcare bill that just passed. What do you think is going to happen?

I would adjust my calculations with my potential employer accordingly.
