How did her father die from his contribution to the war against the Nazis? I never claimed she said he died in Germany. What PROOF does she have that he died from working in a munitions depot? She can assume that but that's not proof and certainly not enough proof to claim he died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany. This is as bad as the lefties who defended Bill Clinton when he lied about not engaging in sexual relations because he didn't consider oral sex to be sexual relations. Likewise, you have a governor who claims her father died fighting the Nazis when he was a CIVILIAN supervisor at a naval munitions depot in Nevada.

Look, we know you know she lied. All you are doing is embarrassing yourself by resorting to these weak arguments. Seriously, there is a time to throw in the towel.

All people lie and it is usually for personal benefit. That being the case, what I said was right on. Cocytus was saying that telling a lie means you are mentally disturbed which is hyperbole.

I am saying that if you are asked about the death of a family member and you lie about the manner of their death, not protect their privacy, but for self-aggrandizement, then yes, you are probably disturbed.

If you are confronted w/ the lie at a later period and insist that you "misstated" or were "misunderstood", then you obviously need to assistance dealing w/ reality.

So..until Jan Brewer simply says she told something that was not true...then I'll think that she has serious mental or emotional issues. And maybe even after that.

That's not likely to happen until she finds herself in an election campaign, where this could be thrown in her face and some campaign adviser points out that it might cost her votes. (Then, of course, there will still be a reason to doubt her).

She's running for re-election -- er, election.

Actually, when all is said and done, Brewer blaming Nazis for her father's subsequent death is no different that Obama blaming Bush for his (Obama's) failure to solve the problems he campaigned hard to be chosen by the electorate to solve. Remember, he said he had the solutions. He doesn't. He lied.

If Brewer's dad died of cancer traceable to his earlier job, which is entirely possible, then this is common knowledge within the family. It's easy for a person who does not think about "image" in the way that most of our politicians are trained to do to slip into stating publicly what the family has known and been saying privately all along. However, were she a polished politician, she would have chosen her words more carefully, and probably should have. I like her because of her directness, but if she's going anywhere on the politican scene she will have to learn political speak. That's rather unfortunate. We have too many polished politicians already. It's time we got some regular people in there. Out with the lawyers, the dirty dealers, the scheming, greedy politicos.

Adding the highlighted words to your statements makes what you say your opinion, rather than fact, which you are entitled to. Your words that I changed to red...not so much.

All of the people who have made mistakes (lied) should just say they made a mistake, apologize, and move on.
