Somehow I get a mental picture of a sink hole like the one that just opened beneath Guatemala City but with oil shooting out of it.

Brilliant . Like the article ends:
Q: "What's worse than an oil spill?"
A: "A radioactive oil spill."

It'll never happen.

People just don't think. The well opening is 18,000 feet below the surface. Crush depth of submarines is less than 3,000 feet.

The pressure at 18,000 feet is probably 600 psi. A 1 kt warhead is only going to generate 10 psi out to about 300 meters or so.

It would take months just to design and build a weapon casing to withstand the pressure at that depth.

18k feet? Where the hell did you get that info, when for the past 2 months or so, the daily rhetoric sez 5k feet? It's not in a trench in the mid-Atlantic or mid-Pacific, after all. ??? Talk about "not thinking," ...

Awesome! Put Micheal Bay in charge of the operation and have Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck pilot a sub down there to plant the bomb.

Sounds good to me. Even if it fails and Affleck and Willis don't make it back, it'll be a huge success.

H to the No.

Please don't nuke the gulf.

I can see Godzilla rising towards New Orleans in 10 years.
