Helen Thomas should get out of the US and go back to Palestine or Lebanon or wherever her ancestors are from if she's going to be making blatantly inflammatory statements like that. She has no ground to stand on since she's not a native american.

The Jewish people are not a religion. They are a group of people who identify themselves as the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the inheritors of the Covenant God made with Abraham. They will refer to themselves as "the tribe". Judaism is the religion of that tribe. Throughout the centuries no matter where they have lived, they have maintained that identity. Some Jews are religious; some are not.
I have heard this before but being Jewish IS a religion. I can convert to Judaism I can NOT convert to being French.
