strange. I always thought that she WAS Jewish. maybe she is self loathing? I just read wiki and read that she was born in the midwest of Lebanese immigrants who changed their names (what else is new?) to Anglo sounding thomas. One cannot help but feel sorry for the Jews who flocked to Palestine from the horrors of europe. Jews, arabs have always lived in Palestine: it is the homeland of each of them. It's no different than me wishing that californians would stop coming to texas, but they still do anyway. Jews and arabs should take over some useless African countries that persecute gays if they need more land and resources.
She is Palestinian. Are you telling me people didn't KNOW this?
I'm curious if anything is going to become of this. Her apology is half assed. If someone made comments like that about blacks, their career would be finished.
however, I'm afraid if she does lose her credentials, then people will start blaming "the jews" for that. maybe it's better she keeps them so that people can now that she's an antisemite, and only the far lefties and islamists will take her seriously.
Of course her "apology" was half-assed. Her original statement was probably what she really believes. I'm sure if you questioned her privately, she'd tell you straight off that she felt "forced" into making an apology. I must say, though, that it would have been interesting if someone had replied to her statement by insisting that she go back to Palestine.
It is odd, though, that there are Russian and other East European immigrants to Israel, who hardly speak Hebrew and whose ancestors had nothing to do with Israel for centuries, if ever, but who now live and multiply in illegal settlements in Palestinian territory. If that's what she meant, I agree with her. Call me an antisemite, I couldn't care less
Those immigrants remind me of all those Russian Germans who migrate to Germany. They hardly speak any German, have never lived in Germany, nor their ancestors, but because of some remote German ancestry they think they are entitled to move to Germany. Basically they are Russians and should stay / go back there.
