And then you brag about how these conservative states have low taxes..thats easy to pull off when you accept welfare from the Feds (when no one is looking of course. They'll turn down stimulus money when eyes are watching.).
Precisely...

I guess the question is why do liberals ignore the call of Christ to give to the poor?

I think that once again, a liberal has confused charitable voluntary contributions with forced government confiscation and redistribution of wealth, which does not necessarily go to the poor, but to the democrat's friends.
Which begs the question, if Conservatives really "give" so much, then how come the "blue" states always end up having to take care of them anyway (and the "reds" bit¢h about it the whole time!)?

Matthew 19 - Passage*Lookup - New International Version - BibleGateway.com

21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Conservative here!
What ever book you read "give your money to the poor and follow me", is not the book I follow.

If we're going to sit and toss Jesus quotes then let toss all of them;
Quote:
“Let one who has become wealthy reign, and let one who has power renounce”
Put that in your hat and smoke it!

Jesus never said to give your money to the government so the government could give to the poor.

Jesus said to give to the poor. All Christians, who truely follow Christ, regardless of their political affiliation, give to the poor with a cheerful heart. They do not hate the words of Christ.

That does not mean that Christians who are conservative should be happy about giving to the government. The government has proven itself to be wasteful and inefficient.

Your OP clearly indicates a lack of understanding where both Conservatives and the Bible are concerned.

I would argue that noting will make you "liberal" faster than having your independence taken from you by government hand outs.

Mark 12 - Passage*Lookup - New International Version - BibleGateway.com

Paying Taxes to Caesar

13Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. 14They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? 15Should we pay or shouldn't we?" But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. "Why are you trying to trap me?" he asked. "Bring me a denarius and let me look at it." 16They brought the coin, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?"
"Caesar's," they replied.
17Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."
And they were amazed at him.
Sadly you miss entirely the point being made in this passage.

Palin?! Are you serious? Just as an FYI, the American Association of Socialists considers Palin to be a socialist seeing how she jacked up taxes while being the Governer of Alaska.

A gift freely given is a blessing upon the giver, a gift stolen and given is a sin of the giver.
