East Coast Questions? (Boca Raton, Cocoa, Sebastian: crime, live, restaurants)

Thanks for checking this out. Will try to keep it short and sweet.

Fam. of four surfers looking to relocate farther south in Fl. Have already started at Amelia Island and have worked our way down to the Daytona area and ready to keep going. Sill want to stay on the East Coast.

Any thoughts on nice, affordable, beaches that have the laid back, local style that we're looking for? From Cocoa area down to Boca Raton...?

We don't mind driving a bit to the city, would actually prefer to be away from it, it's crime and crazy traffic. Also want a comfortable area without being run-over by tourists.

The beach is our main thing, not shopping or clubs or whatever. Like to bike, kayak, surf, bodyboard, etc... And we are openminded with even the smallest hole-in-the-wall / Mom and Pop type restaurants and bars that surprise you with the best seafood you've ever had.

Try the town of Sebastian. Sebastian inlet has some of the best surfing on the east coast.
