I am relocating to the st.lucie/martin county area this summer from upstate new york. I am 64 and retired. I lived in boca raton back in the 90's for several years,so i am familiar with south florida and looking for something more laid back(and less expensive). I will be a renter, and stuart and port saint lucie seem to have some reasonable rents. Stuart has some inexpensive apartments, but my red flag is when rents are low-is there something i need to know about? What's the difference between stuart, port saint lucie and jensen beach? I heard fort pierce is definitely high crime.

Welcome to the forum inwood! I was raised in Auburn, NY!!

If you are looking for the most bang for your buck, PSL is the way to go. There are hundreds of rental homes to choose from, and very reasonably priced. Stuart and Jensen are priced a bit higher, mainly due to the "prestige" of Martin county. Do I think it is worth it?- Not really. If I were you, I would definitely consult a realtor. FlaLadyB is very knowledgeable of the area and can help you in your search. I suggest you PM here.

Good luck and ask any questions you may have. We're here to help!

Let me know what you are looking for and I can send you what is available. Stuart will be higher in price just because they didn't build. Port Saint Lucie is still the best for your money.

I used to live in Boca too... over off of Powerline and Camino Real. Been a while but I know what you mean about price and chaos! LOL!
