After more than 30 years in Miami-Dade/Broward, we're looking for a home in a more laid-back community. And we love Indian River County.

We've been checking listings and took a trip up to drive past a few, but a couple of prospects are in this gated community (so we would need to contact a Realtor to even see the outside). Not quite ready to deal with sales folks yet ...

Does anyone know anything about this development on the San Sebastian River?

BTW, we need a 3/2/2 or 4/2/2 with an existing swimming pool (don't want to go through the cost/hassle of putting in our own). Strongly prefer CBS (we've been through many, many hurricanes down here); we also have two 30-pound Mini Schnauzers, so dogs and fenced yards have to be OK.

Edited to add: We also need at least half an acre of land.

And we have decided that we DO want a gated community, but we don't golf, play tennis, etc.

We'd also appreciate recommendations of similar developments in Vero or Sebastian.

Thanks in advance!

San Sebastian Springs is a nice development. You'll have a much wider choice of gated communities in Vero Beach though. The first that comes to mind with large lots is Black Bear Reserve. There's also Old Savannah, Stony Brook Farm, Polo Grounds, Old Sugar Mill Estates.
