FlaLady,
It's okay. I doubt that information is stable which consists of a Pit Bull has more temperament than a Golden Retriever.

Where is the dog beach? Someone here on the PSL forum asked a question about dogs on the beach but I couldn't get an answer.

It's on Hutchinson Island kinda right in the middle..Walton Rocks Beach, right by the power plant. It's nice bc it's set back and dogs can run free. Don't expect to swim much with your dog though as it really does have a lot of large rocks in shallow water. There's a lot of surfers there bc of how the waves break on the beach. But all in all its a great place bc if u don't like dogs you shouldnt be there! It was great when dogs could dine at outside places in PSL (I've since moved and dont know if the law has changed allowing dogs to dine outside..) anyway we would stop and eat at Archies on the way home and have a great time outside with the dogs, the other customers loved them as did the staff who would bring them water. I read an article where there's another bar/restaurant in the area who allows dogs bc he would rather pay the fine then turn down so many people and their puppies I forget which establishment that is. Hope I was of some help!

I'm wondering.... your status says "Tradition, unfortunately..."

A while back you talked about what a great place Tradition was to live.

What happened?

I dont live in Fla. I live in California but was thinking of moving to your area so I happen to see this thread. I take my dog to the park here every day and meet great people with dogs. They all play togther nicely and have fun and I meet great people as well. Everyone is respectful and considerate. This is just a public park without dog laws and rules. In fact all dogs are legally supposed to be on a leash. But people let the dogs off and let them play. The point is why are people in Florida so into this whole territory thing and caught up with rules and who can go where and needing others to tell you the law to follow. Cant you people just be mature and considerate and get alone so the dogs and kids can all have fun. Cant you talk to parents when they dont attend to their kids or remove the dog if someone is scared of its behavior. I dont see why you are all so petty about something that should be fun. Maybe I need to stay in Ca. where people are more accepting and try to resolve issues not just argue.

Ah.. people are not petty here but we also have beaches and most people don't like to walk on dog poo with bare feet. One of the reason for dog specific parks of which there are few.

Most people in the area have their dogs like any place else. Tradition is a location with individual communities and smaller lots and it's actually pretty nice to have a place where the dogs can run without leashes and not have the possibility of running out in to the street.

There IS a leash law. We have public parks all over as well.

Please don't group Florida in to one anything since we have a pretty nice life here, dogs included.

Why are you moving from California?

Hi TriMT7...
I loved tradition at first and considered it very promising with a lot of "community" and family friendly things to do. Then all the drama started with the dogpark, people basically not being kind or mature and also many physical safety issues with the park. Then there were all the failed or delayed proposals (the mega mall is kaput as is the outlet mall). Jobs in my field are non existant so I have been working in the restaurant business for way too long. Even the landscaping in my community wasn't kept up. Everything seemed rather bleak and frustrating for awhile. But then again life is what u make it wherever you are. I've actually had to give up my dogs and moved up north for a bit....but I'm back and ready to make the most of it. I do enjoy the yappy hour event that my friend runs here once a month oh and the weather and the beach and the pool, LOL!
